Promoting Nantes respiratory research worldwide
LUNG O2 aims at building an innovative research cluster in lung diseases gathering research resources and clinical units holding the excellence in lung diseases.
Thanks to research units and clinical departments of excellence synergy, LUNG O2 offers a unique opportunity to share the expertise and skills to identify new biomarkers and new therapeutic targets.
Offering an excellence training program at international level for students from medicine, biology, nurse sciences, engineering, pharmacy, and also to patients.
All adult respiratory pathologies are treated in the pneumology department of the Nantes University Hospital, without exception. The main diseases concerned are asthma, COPD, acute and chronic respiratory insufficiencies, lung and pleural cancers, cystic fibrosis, diffuse infiltrative pneumopathies, pulmonary infections and tuberculosis.
Trigger new Precision Medicine research projects by gathering all teams involved in pulmonary research in the fields of lung cancer, lung transplantation, asthma and pneumonias, each of them excelling in different approaches (pathophysiology, cohorts, big data analysis, biomarkers, clinical trials, connected tools, ethics…)
Creating a respiratory territorial network aiming to propose a research pathway to all patients prefiguring the organization of Precision Medicine implementation
Invest the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with respiratory health and air quality-related databases and “homics” (home and patient-connected medicine, telemedicine, teleprevention). We will implement the tools developed in clinical trials in order to bring 4P medicine its 5th P for Proof.
Based on existing cohorts, gender disparities in diagnosis and prognosis of lung diseases will be addressed.
LUNG O2 will address several ethical issues about precision medicine and its acceptance in an individual and social point of views.
